With sales at an unprecedented high, Noosa Cat has several ongoing positions available for experienced and inexperienced individuals. We are looking for qualified tradespeople, skilled labourers, and individuals with a passion for boating. As our boats start from a drum and roll out as turn-key vessels, Noosa Cat has a variety of positions available for all stages of the boat building process.

All positions are available as long term roles for the right applicant with years of orders ahead. Whilst exposure/experience in fiberglass boat building is preferred, trades or experience in the following areas may be transferable and are desirable:

  • Panel beating / spray painting and detailing.

  • Carpentry / cabinet making.

  • Caravan / coach building.

  • Plumbing / mechanics.

  • Plug and mould making.

  • Composite technicians.

  • Or someone who is an allrounder looking for a new opportunity.

Part-time contractors and small business owners are welcome to apply. The positions offered are secure, long-term, with a negotiated wage based on the applicant’s experience, and productivity.

Fibreglass Laminator / Gel Coater and Chopper Gun Operator

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Preparing moulds including applying release agents and cleaning.

  • Gelcoating and laminating fiberglass components to a lamination schedule including large open moulds (hulls, decks) and smaller mouldings (cabins, small parts).

  • Performing in-line inspections to minimise quality issues, gel coat imperfections, and air voids

  • Installing structural materials such as foam, core mat and reinforcing pads following templates, guides or specific dimensions.

  • Handling hazardous chemicals such as catalyst, resin and gel coat.

  • De-moulding parts.

Key Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in the fiberglass lamination industry with experience in chopper and gelcoating operations essential.

  • Knowledge of the fiberglass lamination process.

  • Ability to work with basic shop tools and equipment used in the lamination of fiberglass boats.

  • Have a strong eye for detail, accuracy and quality.

  • To apply a consistency of thickness and uniform coating and lamination without flaws or air bubbles.


Fiberglass / Boat Detailer

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Gelcoat repairs including fairing, sanding, application of gelcoat, waxing and polishing.

  • Preparing surfaces for coating and painting.

  • Preparing and finishing surfaces ready for fitout.

  • Cleaning and detailing new boats to a high standard including washing, buffing and waxing of boats prior to delivery and customer handover.

 Key Skills

  • Experience with surface finishes, sanding and polishing. Gelcoat and fiberglass experience favoured.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Ability to work with basic shop tools and equipment used in the detailing of fiberglass boats.


Boat Builder / Shipwright

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • All areas of fiberglass boat production including cutting, assembling and installing small, moulded parts.

  • Cutting and installing underfloor structural components (beams and bulkheads) to hulls, and structural components to decks and cabins.

  • Cutting and fiberglassing panels, conduits, reinforcing pads.

  • Assembly of complete vessels from individual hull, deck and cabin mouldings.

  • Cutting and fiberglassing of larger moulded parts including lounges, iceboxes, hardtop, berths, liners to vessels.

Key Skills

  • Hold trade qualifications in boat building or have demonstrated fiberglass assembly/ boat building experience.

  •  Ability to work with basic shop tools and equipment used to shape, cut, and fit fiberglass components.

  • Experience and demonstrated skills with composite spray equipment or roller hand operations.

  • Knowledge of fibre composites manufacture.


12v Electrical Fit-Out

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Installation and wiring of 12-volt electrical components including lighting, stereos, pumps, fridges, winches etc.

  • Installation and wiring of 12-volt batteries, charging, solar panels and regulators.

  • Installation of basic plumbing including onboard and overboard.

  • Installation and wiring of trailers including lighting, brake plumbing, and brake controllers.

Key Skills

  • Experience with and knowledge of marine/boat 12-volt wiring, or auto electrical experience will be highly regarded.

  • Correctly use air and power tools, and equipment used in the electrical fit-out of boats.


Marine Electronics & Electrical Fitter

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Installation and wiring of navigation type products (multi-function displays, GPS, radar, autopilot),  communications products (VHF radio, satellite phone, public address), CCTV products, and IT products (WiFi, satellite phone/data, Starlink, IP network).

 Key Skills

  • Knowledge of marine navigational equipment and marine industry experience.

  • Correctly use air and power tools, and equipment used in the electrical fit-out of boats.


Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Complete new outboard engine fit-out including fuel systems, engine rigging and steering components.

  • Pre-delivery check and start up of new engines.

  • Installation and wiring of engine rigging including autopilot and joystick, and integration into navigation systems (multifunction displays).

 Key Skills

  • Experience with and knowledge of marine engine fit-out and installation. Experience with Yamaha, Mercury and Suzuki outboards will be highly regarded.

  • Correctly use air and power tools, and equipment used in the engine fit-out of boats.

Marine Technician / Mechanic
